Due to the increasing number of DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) compliant home appliances, people are now able to share media contents within the home. The current DLNA guidelines do not allow DLNA devices in different home networks to interact with one another over the Internet. There have been several systems proposed to support the device interoperability between different home networks. However, these systems require a particular home gateway to be installed at the border between each home network and the Internet. To extend the usability of the system, we propose a content viewing web system for DLNA devices in wide area network that allows users to access a remote DLNA device from a home gateway-free network over the Internet, using their portable devices. This way, users can select media content on a web browser and watch it on a media player installed in their portable devices.
