• This year a new English curriculum was introduced in order to reform English Education at Tottori University. This curriculum, considering the social needs of graduates in this time of increasing international communication, aims at switching educational objectives from training primarily in reading skills to that of communicative competence in English. In the present paper, the background of this reformation, an outline of the new curriculum and the training situation for the TOEIC test at Tottori University will be reported.
