八木秀夫教授定年退職記念号Purpose:The purpose of this paper is to examine the case of the woman who lives with inborn physical disability and personality disorder, and to consider how disability is confessed in daily scene. The analysis viewpoint is invoked from the discussion about Stigma of Goffman. I want to suggest by this case analysis how the confession of disability in daily life's situation is difficult, but how this confession is necessary to wipe out Stigma from stigmatized persons.Standpoint: When disability is confessed, the listener's reaction is important. Because it decides the meaning of disability. If the confession is seen as a process of social interaction, not a one-sided declaration, meaning of disability can't be decided beforehand. In that sense, through the confession~ mere characteristic will be made as a disability.Method: First interview became the first experience of confession for her. She was not able to talk about experience and idea about disability to anyone till then. She has needed a sympathetic ear. I interviewed her, and collected her confession experiences for a long term. I have executed the interview nine times from August, 1999 to August, 2008 to her. Moreover, because relations for nine years as the friend for a long time have been continued, a huge amount of record can be examined as data. She has continued to tell me the confession experience in letters, mails, and various way.Consideration: Her confession of disability has the structure of an endless reversing. She undertakes and rejects the standpoint of person with disability. The shake of feelings that feelings of the affirmative and the denial bewilderingly alternate is a nucleus of this woman's experience of disability. Keeping confessing by daily friendship keeps herself.
