This study aims to clarify problems that confront new teachers. The past studies show that they usually develop professionally through advice from more experienced colleages in on-and-off informal conversations. However, since there have been no studies on what specific problems they actually have, one might argue that the period of teacher training is being prolonged. I conducted interviews and questionaires with new teachers and found out that they have a lot of problems. One of the most difficult problems facing newly-employed teachers is how to teach in their classrooms and how to conduct their classes during their first year.
