A direct numerical simulation of unstably stratified turbulent channel flow is carried out using weak compressibility method which takes density variation into account, in order to assess the influence of heat transfer and density variation on the wall turbulence under unstably stratification. In the results, dependency of turbulence statistics on flow instability induced by the temperature distribution is corresponding with the previous results by the numerical method with Boussinesq approximation. It is also observed that the turbulence structures such as low speed streaks are concentrated in the larger scale flow structures formed by the thermal plumes. In addition, the results from the present simulation show that the small scale disturbances of heat flux through the wall cause the local density variation in the flow, and that the local flow expansion and contraction by the density variation correlates strongly with small scale low speed streaks along the wall.
