Separated flow past a 6:1 prolate spheroid was analyzed using Large-eddy Simulation (LES). Although the computation was carried out for several angles of attack at Re=1.0×10^5 and for 10-deg angle at Re=4.2×10^6. The standard Smagorinsky model could not predict a separation region precisely, the three-dimensional vortex structure arisen from the spheroid body was captured and it was revealed that the effect of longitudinal vortex became intense with increase of angle of attack. In addition, the Reynolds number effect on separated flow was assessed and it was shown that the turbulent state near the body considerably changes at high Reynolds number.
