Separated flow past a 6:1 prolate spheroid was analyzed using Large-eddy Simulation (LES). In this simulation, the standard Smagosinky model was used as a sub-grid scale (SGS) model, and the computation was carried out for several angles of attack at Re=1.0×10^5. Separation region appeared at the rear of the body, but precise prediction of separation line was not attained because of low resolution grid and the property of SGS model used in this study. However, the three-dimensional vortex structure arisen from the separation region was captured, and it was shown that the effect of longitudinal vortex became intense with increase in angle of attack.
