We performed laboratory experiments in order to study how the shape of the turbulent plumes evolve with time, with Reynolds number and density difference between the plume and the ambient fluid as the changeable parameters. Experiments show that we can define 3 morphological regimes as a function of elapsed time, and we can characterize the plume shape by introducing several scales. We determine the 2 transition height using these scales, and show that they are decreasing function of Reynolds number.
