• The present article describes the grammatical properties of the Japanese Serial-VerbConstruction (SVC) (in partial comparison with the Korean SVC) and argues for the viewthat the semantics is compositionally read off the syntactic structure in the framework ofl-syntax of Zubizarreta and Oh (2007). We also discuss the semantic relations betweenevents encoded by the SVCs in Japanese.
