In this paper, we study the phenomenon of resource competition in the Next Generation Mobile Network (NGMN) environment. Under this study, the NGMN is considered as an ecosystem, which comprises of heterogeneous mobile networks with finite resources. Each NGMN client has sessions belonging to different application classes (e.g., voice, video, data, etc) corresponding to various resource consumption levels. As the number of sessions corresponding to various application classes increases, the phenomenon of resource competition becomes apparent. We prove that the application class with the lowest resource requirement of the limiting resource will competitively exclude all others.
