Considering the problems of home care for the bed-ridden elderly people and the elderly people with senile dementia, it is important to investigate which case in the whole community is most necessary to help by medical services and social welfare services. This article is a preliminary study of this subject, examining the 29 cases concerning suicide, " shinju " and murder of the family caring the elderly at home, occurring in the metroporitan circle from 1974 to 1986, because those cases seem to need to help by them. The major conclusions are summarized as follows: 1) The families of those cases were socialy isolated in the community, especially in the " young " area where the rate of 65 years old and older populations in the community is 9% and under. 2) Some of the cases that the aged family's member, for example seventy's or eighty's spouse, had cared the elderly at home, occurred a crisis of the familical domestic care immediately after beginning care. 3) In the cases that the elderly had been living with unmarried child, when the elderly's condition had took a sudden turn for the worse, the child had a trouble with unstable life circumstances. 4) Some of the cases occurred a crisis of the familical domestic care, when the family caring the elderly was illed. Therefore, at least the organization of the network between the medical fields and social welfare services in the community, aiming at early detection and early assistance for those cases, will be necessary.
