In the 21st century, knowledge workers have become a source of competitive advantage. The pharmaceutical industry is one of the well-known knowledge-based and health-associated companies that requires an ethics program. Following the scandals against its philosophy in the 1990s, Eisai adopted corporate ethics program based on its philosophy, "human health care." Attempting to further promote its corporate ethics, Eisai developed the Corporate Ethics Compliance Department and a compliance program, and opened a hotline to warn violations of law and ethics in the early 2000s. In addition, Eisai provides information on its ethics activities based on its philosophy with knowledge workers at ajob fair. Eisai was successful in recruiting knowledge workers through its ethics activities. Therefore, in this paper, the author clarifies that a pharmaceutical company that adopts an ethics program can recruit knowledge workers as employees.
