The handoff process in Mobile Wireless communication incurs for data loss, increased latency and reduced throughput of the network. The Custody Transfer mechanism and the dynamic hop-by-hop routing in the Disruption Tolerant Network (DTN) technology is capable of realizing the re-routing function during the Handoff efficiently. A Handoff Supported (HS) routing strategy of DTN has been proposed which can achieve higher delivery ratio and better latency than the existing technologies.
