I am researching problems in social welfare for the elderly Koreans living in Japan. This study note aims to survey historical conditions concerning generation of Korea residents in Japan and social works in colonial Korea. Because I would like to understand their life histories by knowing situations in which they had to move into Japan. In Chapter 1, I try to construct a history of generation of Korea residents in Japan, and find impoverishment of Koreans caused by Japanese colonization as a condition under which they had to move into Japan. In Chapter 2, by examining the homen-iin system which is an example of social welfare systems of colonial Korea, I try to find another condition under which they had to move into Japan.
