In 1979, I collected an elegant species of Microlepidoptera from Ishigaki Island, the Ryukyu Islands. As a result of ditailed investigation of its wing venation and genital structure and following advice of Dr. A. DIAKONOFF, Leiden, I decided to describe this species as new under the genus Phycodes GUENEE. This genus is of a circumtropical and subtropical distribution, and has been recorded from Africa, Arabia, India, Ceylon, China, Java, Borneo and the Philippines. The discovery of Phycodes from the Yaeyama Islands is of great interest for the study of the insect fauna of the Ryukyu Islands.
