Although the Peacock Pansy, Precis almana, is fairly plentiful in most of the Loochoo Isl. and its range extends north to Tanegashima, it was regarded as one of the migrant species in Kyushu. Since 1958, however, there has been a remarkable increase in its numbers in the southern part of Kyushu. The present paper is devoted to show the annual life cycle of this species in this newly recognized habitat. As shown in the table, there are three to five generations in a year and some adults of the autumn generations which emerge chiefly in October pass the winter without diapause. But there is also a little possibility that a few larvae can survive to the next spring. The larvae feed on Lippia nodiflora L. C. RICHARD (Verbenaceae) all the year round and on Lindernia vervenaefolia PENNELL (Scrophulariaceae) from July to December.
