Cranionycta DE LATTIN was established in 1949 for a single species oda from Sutchanski-Rudnik, which is characterized by the closely Craniophora-like pattern of forewing, combined with uncrested abdominal segments, and more essentially by the structure of male genitalia which show very simple, elongate valva with completely missing harpe. Two more species having the similar type of valva are later described in 1950 by KOZHANTSHIKOV and DRAUDT, for both of whom it was unfortunate that DE LATTIN'S paper appeared too late to make reference. I consider that transversa KOZH. may very probably be a synonym of oda described from nearly the same locality, but another one inquieta DRAUDT seems to be separated from oda by its smaller size of expanse and somewhat dissimilar appearance of forewing, leaving for future study a slight possibility that it could be the Chinese race of oda. There is before me a pair of Cranionycta species collected in Japan by Mr. Y. YAMAMOTO (Hyonosen, 23. VI. 1957) who kindly sent me his interesting specimens for identification. I have now concluded them to be undoubtedly oda, by the kind help of Prof. Dr. GUSTAF DE LATTIN of Zoologisches Staatsinstitut in Hamburg, who generously provided me with a photograph of the types oda, shown first here in fig. 1, and to whom I express my best appreciation. The synopsis of the genus will be appended above. The association of Miracopa prodigiosa DRAUDT with this genus was already mentioned by BOURSIN (1952).
