This paper presents the feasibility study of ejector-based cooling cycle with three hydrocarbon refrigerants- propane, isobutane and n-butane. The theoretical analysis method for ejector is based on the combination of constant-area-ejector theory and a newly available shock circle model definition. The rigorous thermodynamic property equations of state for the refrigerants are used to incorporate the non-ideality of real fluid, especially near saturation and in two-phase equilibrium. Comparisons of calculation results with available measurement data reveal satisfactory agreement for both entrainment ratio and compression ratio. From the simulation results, propane shows the best performance compared to other two HCs refrigerants in the same operating conditions, especially at higher generator temperatures.
