Producing fresh water may be an important issue for the future; there are several ways to produce fresh water from seawater, such as thermal processes. Thermal processes can be applied to any kind of raw water, but they need high electric energy consumption and plant capacities are low. The goal of this research is to increase the coefficient of performance of multi-effect distillation process. The optimized conditions for the experimental device should be obtained by simulation, and then compared with experimental data. Another part of the project is also to understand all phenomena inside the experimental device, such as convection, pressure and temperature variation in order to optimize the distillation process.
