Cargo tank system is a fundamental part of liquefied gas carrier and rules main design features of the carrier. With respect to LPG carriers, a prismatic tank system was installed in the first carrier of the world. This tank system has been improved step by step, and now the most of the carriers have this system. However, the prismatic tank system has inevitable shortcomings such as heavy tank weight, many number of component, long weld length and much construction man-hours. Theses shortcomings are not overcome by gradual improvement but development of a new tank system. The previous paper presented preliminary study for design and strength analysis of LPG carrier with cylindrical tank system. In this paper, main technical elements for cylindrical tank system are studied: theses technical elements are tank construstion, tank supporting, tank shape and arrangment for ship's hull. Result of the study shows that the new concept of the system brings new appraisal on cylindrical tank system.
