初級文法・語彙教育から見た漢字教材の分析 : 付属教材としての有効性

This essay discusses what kind of supplementary kanji material is effective in a course of elementary Japanese as JFL/JSL. The introduction and order of 284 basic kanji in supplementary material for the textbook Gogaku Ryugakusei no Tame no Nihongo I & II (2003) was examined closely in order to find out if they are rational and effective for the teaching of elementary grammar and vocabulary Analysis of the "contextualization" of the kanji introduced revealed that the order of introduction of the kanji was largely inappropriate and consequently doesn't help teachers/learners teach/learn kanji effectively when the supplementary material is given to be learned along with the main textbook. The result of this analysis also shows that the kanji material fails to give teachers/ learners an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of the complicated relationship between grammar and orthography due to lack of careful consideration of the use of kanji in the Japanese language.
