We should study on the phenomenon reducing the contact resistance. Contact voltages in Palladium (Pd) contacts, temperatures and currents have been precisely measured after supplying currents. As a result of the experiment, the precious result was got that the contact resistance had the convex characteristic with respect to the electrode temperature after increasing current like step. The approximate formula of the contact resistance deduced was quadratic as far as the electrode temperature was concerned. This formula included the other variables concerning with the contact spot and temperature distribution in the constriction region. According to the result, the condition exists for reducing contact resistance even if the electrode temperature rises. In this paper, the experimental result and the deduction of the contact resistance will be shown. The result of this paper will be expected to be referred to the thermal design of contacts.
