4-6-4 Performance improvement of anode supported SOFC with ScSZ/CGO composite electrolyte

Ni-CGO anode supported SOFCs with CGO single layer electrolyte and ScSZ/CGO bilayer electrolyte were prepared by co-pressing method, respectively. Single cells were tested in the temperature range of 650-800℃ with hydrogen as fuel. Both of open-circuit voltage and peak power densities of the cell with ScSZ/CGO bilayer electrolyte were higher than that of the cell with CGO single layer electrolyte. This indicated that ScSZ/CGO bilayer electrolyte raised the performance of cell effectively. Ce_<0.85>Gd_<0.15>O_<2-δ>(CGO) and 1 lmol%Sc_2O_3-doped ZrO_2(ScSZ) electrolyte materials were prepared by Sol-Gel and co-precipitation method, respectively. XRD, TEM and SEM were used to check the phase, microstructure of the materials and the single cell's section, respectively.
