• The Common Structural Rules (CSR) for Double Hull Oil Tankers and for Bulk Carriers, which were adopted by IACS in December 2005 and unanimously implemented in each Class's Rules on 1 April 2006, are more complicated and voluminous than the traditional Class Rules that have previously been applied. Without the aid of well-developed software it is impracticable to design and verify structural scantlings in accordance with CSR requirements. Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK) has developed and released software programs for prescriptive scantling calculation and direct strength analysis in conformity with the CSRs for Double Hull Oil Tankers and for Bulk Carriers. This paper gives introduction of these software programs and their recent revisions.
