Two body color mutants (cm and dm) were found and established in the medaka (Oryzias latipes). The cm and dm genes are autosomal and recessive. The BcmR fish had concentrated melanophores, and the body color was blond. The dm gene caused dispersed melanophores and leucophores. The BdmR fish was dark brown in body color. The cm and dm genes did not link with other genes used in test crosses. Some gene analyses were done.
