Validity of the standards of abnormality of constitution theoretically set up by the author was confirmed on the basis of the observations made on sick children with abnormal constitution. Frequencies of occurrences of children with abnormal constitution, as well as the courses of their growths, were studied in primary and junior high school children of Chiba and Nagano Prefectures. 1) In accordance with the theories of stochastics, it was defined that the term children with abnormal constitution referred to children who deviated from the mean measurements of the children of same race, family name and age by over 2.58 times the standard deviation in either directions. 2 ) Observations of sick children who were clinically found to have, or to be destined to have, abnormal constitution disclosed that, of 47 children studied, 32 fell in the class defined as abnormal. Many children who did not fall in this category were those who were too young to be classified as abnormal. 3) Frequencies of occurrences of abnormally tall children among school children of Chiba and Nagano Prefectures were 0.32 % (0.73 %-0.26 %) and 0.22 % (0.24 %-0.19 %), respectively, while those of abnormally short children were 0.05 % (0.07 %-0.04 %) and 0.07 % (0.08 %-0.06 %), respectively. 4) It was assumed that the standard deviations from the mean heights of the school children of Chiba and Nagano Prefectures might be smaller then the standard deviation from the mean height of children throughout Japan. 5) The mean value and range of the heights of school children of Chiba Prefecture are larger than those of school children of Nagano Prefecture. 6) Frequencies of occurrences of abnormally heavy children among school children of Chiba and Nagano Prefectures were 0.72 % (0.76 %-0.56 %) and 0.54 % (0.54 %-0.50 %), respectively, while those of abnormally light children were 0.02 % (0.03 %-0.01 %) and 0.03 % (0.04 %-0.02 /0), respectively. 7) It was assumed that the mean values and range of weights of both Chiba and Nagano Prefectures might be larger than the mean value and the range of weights of children throughout Japan, and that this phenomenon might be more marked in the children of Chiba Prefecture than in those of Nagano Prefecture. 8) It was assumed on the basis of frequency of occurrence of children with abnormal constitution that the children of the urban community might show the largest values in height and weight, followed by those of the fishing community, agricultural community and the mountain community in the indicated order. (9) Of all the children of abnormally great size, 13.0 %-22.2 % of them were shown to have abnormal values at 6 years of age, the majority of the rest of them having values larger than the mean value by more than one time the standard deviation at that age, while all the children of abnormally small size had at 6 years of age, values smaller than the mean value by more than one time the standard deviation. This would indicate that the children with abnormal constitution might, to a certain extent, be destined to grow abnormal before they are 6 years old. (10) One third to one half of overgrowths occurred at puberty, suggesting the existence of close connection between sex hormone and overgrowth. (11) Girls showed a tendency to become abnormally tall earlier than boys. (12) Unlike the gain in weight, the increase in height did not occur suddenly even among children with abnormal constitution.
