The problem, whether normal human group specific agglutinins be hereditary and transmitted from parents to children, was discussed from early times. Furuhata built up his theory. of heredity of blood groups based on the assumption that agglutinins also like agglutinogens are hereditary. Recently Matsunaga who classified normal human group agglutinins α and β into some undergroup-agglutinins, demonstrated that they are inherited according to Mendel's law, and gave an experimental foundation to the theory of Furuhata. Matsunaga took up thereby different methods to classify α and β respectively. The author therefore adopted one and the same method in the classification of α and β, and investigated the hereditability of them. When α or β agglutinin sera are absorbed with the same quantity of AS saliva, in some of sera agglutinins are absorbed completely (α_2, β_2) whilst in the other sera agglutinins are absorbed only partially, leaving a part of them unabsorbed (α_1, β_1). The author first examined the percentage of these α_1, α_2 and β_1, β_2, then investigated the possible hereditability of them in 31 families consisting of 139 individuals. From his examinations it was confirmed that α_1 and α_2 are inherited against o recessively, and α_1 against α_2 recessively according to Mendel's law, confirming the results of Matsunaga. As to the hereditability of β agglutinins also the quite similar circumstances were found.
