Human beings can be classified into various groups with regard to the behavior of brood group substances in red blood cells. It is also possible to differentiate secretor and non-secretor by presence or absence of blood group substances in saliva and other secretes. It was found that also various animals can be differentiated in similar manner. As to the A blood group substance, besides the classification in red blood cells, the saliva-typing was studied and it was found that in rabbit, horse, sheep, goat, cat, and rat exist two groups respectively, the one, group A'+, which contains the A group sub stance in saliva and the other, group A'-, in saliva of which no such group substance is present. It was further shown that the A group substance in saliva of these animals is not the same in construction, i.e. very simple in some animals whereas more comp licated in the others. It was reported that in dogs exist two groups in red blood cells, A+ and A-, and two groups in saliva, A'+ and A'-, with lacking of their conformity. On the other hand in several animalspecies was confirmed that in serum of the animal of group A'- are contained anti-A-agglutinins, whereas in that of group A'+ are found no such agglutinins. In the case of dog, however, the publications, regarding those circumstances are not uniform. The author's studies performed in detail in various animalspecies, especially in dogs, now gave following results:- 1) 17 sheep, 13 goats, and 23 dogs were classified into two groups, e.i. the one which contains A substance in saliva, and the other which lacks such substance in it. 2) The A group substance in saliva of man, dog, horse, sheep, goat, rat, and rabbit consists of several partial antigens such as A_I (human part ), A_<III> (hog part), and A_<IV> (sheep part). Owing to the quantity and quality of the A substance in saliva those animals can be classified into two orders, i.e. the order of man, dog, and horse, and that of sheep, goat, rat, and rabbit. The A substance in saliva of dog No.4 (which was found to contain A substance in saliva and anti-A-antibodies in serum simultaneously) was of the order of that of the rabbit. 3) The A substance in saliva of goats of group A'- showed in quantity individual variations of wide range but contained all partial antigens equally. 4) The A group substance was demonstrated in urine of the dogs of group A'+ in a small quantity, in that of dog No.4 in a trace and none of it in urine of the dogs of group A'-. In milk serum the same results were observed. 5) In dog, sheep, and goat was confirmed that an individual which contained A substance in saliva, possesses no anti-A-agglutinins in serum, whereas the one, in saliva of which A substance was not found, contained anti-A-agglutinins in serum. In this respect dog No.4 was an exceptional case. 5) Anti-A-agglutinins in serum of dog No.4 consisted of mainly anti-A_I-agglutinins as in serum of dogs of group A'-.
