It was possible to differentiate secretor and non-secretor by the examination of serum of group A using the ordinary agglutination inhibiting test. When the absorption test was performed, the differentiation showed itself clearer. However, to obtain such good results one must choose a suitable agglutinin serum (immune sera obtained by immunization with saliva antigen as well as a major part of normal α sera). Some agglutinin sera were not adequate. Agglutinins which act only on lipid antigen and do not act on carbohydrate antigen seemed unproper (some immune sera obtained by immunization with red blood cells). In opposition to the serum of group A in the case of serum of group B no distinct difference could. be found between secretor and non-secretor, although various methods and various agglutinin sera were used. In the examination of the O substance the results were also obscure as in the case of B, throughout all groups. There are some cases of group A , in which any differentiation was not attained. Incubation of serum at 37℃ made the difference more distinct in the case of group A only, but not in the case of other groups. The group specific agglutinins obtained by immunization with human sera were easily absorbed by the antigen of carbohydrate nature.
