This paper presents the process of the initial introduction of quantum mechanics in Japan from 1925 to 1928. It will focus on organizations and individuals that played key roles in this process-those affiliated with Tokyo and Kyoto Imperial Universities as well as at the Institute for Physical and Chemical Research. It will also deal with scientists who were unaffiliated with these institutions and the German physicist Arnold Sommerfeld, who visited Japan in 1928 and delivered lectures on quantum mechanics to university students and to the public. It will also explain the introduction of quantum mechanics through publications in Japan.
