海老井英次教授退官記念号〈Special Issue〉dedicated to Professor EBII EijiThis paper traces the claims to love marriage by the early modern Japanese women's liberationists. The aim of this paper is to certify that love can be a potential keyword to solve today's gender problems. With this intention, this paper examines two groups of women's liberationists; Iwamoto Zenji, and the members of "Seito". Iwamoto expressed his thoughts about women's education, 'Jogaku-shiso', with the claim to love marriage in his several writings. And according to the developments in his 'Jogaku-shiso', his thoughts about love and women showed some changes. In the various claims of "Seito'"s members, love was the important keyword. Through this study I came to be sure that love could be an important keyword for the solution of the gender problems.
