The purpose of this study is to compare music teacher training organizations of China and Japan by looking at the curriculum structure and mentality. The music teacher training curriculum in China is a system of music specialty where music and other artistic relations are many. But, there is little relevance between music and the teaching profession. Compared with this, the music teacher training curriculum of Japan utilizes the standard teacher training system in accordance with the teacher license. Relevance is strong between music and the teaching profession. However, there still exist problems in the curriculum of the music teacher training programs in the two countries particularly regarding how to balance technical knowledge of music with teaching music as a profession. In order to train better music teachers, the curriculums must consider music with other artistic lon-gitudinal expansions. At the same time, the programs must consider the crosswise relationship between music and other education disciplines.
