GPS-free localization is an essential issue for many location-aware Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) applications. When there are some obstacles inside the network, localization algorithms tend to get higher error due to the number of hops is greater than expected. In this paper, we propose a simple and robust algorithm to reduce this side-effect by correcting estimated distance to anchors of nodes located near obtacles in the fourth step of the original Self-Organizing Maps (SOM) algorithm. The simulation results show the improvements over the original method.
