Recently, inkjet technology has been applied not only to consumer field but also to industrial field. The shear mode piezo inkjet head is the promising head for high-density nozzle because of its structure. In this paper, we simulate the operating characteristics of shear mode piezo inkjet head and show that the nozzle shape (diameter and taper angle) and the thickness of upper glue layer are dominant to driving voltage, which is confirmed experimentally. Also we discuss the relationship between the measured driving voltage and resonance parameters (anti-resonance frequency and average impedance ΔZ). Those resonance parameters are supposed to be good indicators for grading the inkjet head in the manufacturing process.
