From the standpoint of practical use, the University of the Air study centers always have been well utilized by the student for classroom tutorials, reviewing broadcast in the audio-visual room, reading in the library, and so forth. They also have facilitated human contact among faculty, staff, and student and among the students themselves. This latter heed to reduce the sense of isolation often resulted in a huge number of students congregating at the six study centers in the broadcast target area. One of the most important findings of the present work was the existence of great student need for general counselling about methods of self-learning at a distance, choice of appropriate course subjects, planning for graduation, and so on. Consequently it might be desirable for the University to place additional emphasis on general counselling. Also the system of academic counselling might be reorganized by reducing such obstacles as application formalities, time restriction, and the like, to make it easier for every student to participate.
