One of the important challenges in a social workers' course is, according to the view of the author, to create a learning opportunity together with students that facilitates deepening understanding of people. When a social worker tries to establish a relationship of a provider and a recipient of care, the social worker should stand on an attitude based on deep understanding of people, because each recipient should have his/her own personal history accumulated so far. The statement in the syllabus of seminar in social work practice that the aim of the class is placed on understanding of the own self of each students reflects that doing so forms an entrance of deepening understanding of people. However, understanding the one's self cannot be deepened by himself/herself alone. One can understand his/her own self only through the process of interactions with and understanding other people. In the seminar in social work practice, various group work programs were employed so that a 'field' can be produced in which each participant can understand other people who are in the same class by chance. Especially in the second semester, various group work programs were taken in the class mainly consisting of structural encounter group exercises. In doing so, how to develop a group was flexibly operated and a consideration was given so that the aim of the group can be considered by the participants themselves. This article also aims at presenting an example of practical social work education.
