One of the most important challenges for students in passing their university life is to explore the direction of their future. The author has frequently seen students who find their future course and their own implications in studying social welfare. Especially, the chance of encountering users and staff members of social welfare service establishments in the course of on-the-job learning stimulated their direct interest in committing themselves in social welfare services and was a momentum to find the potentiality for their future growth, as many students spoke reflectively. In the author's class, a place was provided to students where they shared their colleagues with their experience of encountering at such social welfare establishments during the on-the-job learning. The technique used here is called as 'group supervision.' The class successfully demonstrated a learning process centered on 'encountering' through which the students found the raison d'etre of themselves by sharing the experiences of encountering people. This paper aims at considering the implication of such learning process by referring to the theoretical framework of its learning process.
