In this study, I intend to elalify the problems to be resolved about the post-school education in England and Wales through anarysing tendencies and arguments concerning to "continuing educatjon". So as to approach the subject, I used the 1982 ACACE Report (Continuing Education: from policies to practice, the Advisory Council for Adult and Continuing Education, 1982) as one of the main resources to be analysed. This study consists of two parts, the former part is for surveying the present conditions and problems belonging to the area of post-school education, and the latter is for analysing tendencies and arguments for those problems. I described the former part in this paper. Order of contents is as follows; 1. Preface 2. Educational Opportunities for the adults a) Terms of references and the meaning of continuing education b) The bodies which provides the educational opportunities for adults c) The present condition and subject of the educational opportunities for adults -an interpretation by ACACE Report- 3. The basic view-point and proposals of 1982 ACACE Report.
