"Accumulation of wealth is, ……accumulation of misery, agony of toil, slavery, ignorance, brutality, mental degradation, on the side of the class that produces its own product in the form of capital"-a well-known description of Capital VIC23-which has been interpreted as the general prescription of labour in capitalist society. And, therefore, it is understood that every labour gets himself in misery, agony of toil, slavery, ignorance, brutality and mental degradation without exception, and goes from bad to worse. But this description means many sorts of misery accumulated in labour class which is constructed by active workers and defferent kinds of relative surplus-populations. It is also clear for us because the aggregate social capital is analyzed in this chapter. The labour, which corresponds to the aggregate social capital, is whole proletariat; in other words, it is nothing but a whole labour class. So it is misunderstanding that this description means the situation of every labour. Then, why has it been misunderstood? As the first reason, it has been thought that the main subject of accumulation-theory is to explain "the progressive reproduction of capitalistic relations." But it is the main point of chapters 21 and 22. Furthermore, at chapters 21 and 22, the aggregate social capital and labour class is considerd the quantitative accumulation of individual capital=Wage-earner relations. Thereupon, if it is interpreted that "the progressive reproduction of capitalistic relations" is the main subject of accumulation-theory, the chapter 23 is considerd the extensition of chapters 21 and 22 both in subject and theory; so we get to the interpritation that it prescribes whole labour class as pauperization by prescribing each labour as pauperization. So that this misunderstanding had dwarfed Marx's theory as the "demonstration of aggravation" theory, we have not been able to accept the Marx's pauperization-theory without explaining the aggravation of each labour. This misunderstanding dwarfed the significance of Marxism remarkably both in theory and practice. The main point of Marx's accumulation-theory is to demonstrate the antagonistic-relations of capitalist accumulation. And the description of pauperization is written for that perpose. The theoretical and practical starting point of pauperization-theory, is not to demonstrate the ceaseless "aggravation" of each labour, but to analyze the accumulation of pauperization in whole labour class. From this point of view, it must be the essential point of pauperization-theory to analyze the antagonistic relations between capital class and labour class. This treatise explicates these subjects.
