This article is an attempt to elucidate the characters of cocoon dealing system under special contract, which has been regarded as a means to dominate sericulturists. In this article we will deal with Gunze Silk Mfg. Co., Ltd. case to clear this problem. Our conclusions are as follows. (1) In the process of the formation of this special contract in the period of 1910's, it functioned as a measure of setting low cocoon prices. On account of lacking competitive firms, however, the sericulturists kept strong confidence in Gunze. Consequently clashes of interests on the cocoon prices were hardly found in this period. (2) In 1920's, the entrance of the competitive firms such as Ayabe & Co., Ltd. and Katakura & Co., Ltd. in this district had destroyed the confidence between Gunze and the sericulturists, which brought about the increase of the conflicts on the cocoon prices. Through those conflicts, the price setting system of the dealing was partly improved in accordance with the claims of the sericulturists. In this respect, sericulturists partially succeeded to get out of the domination of Gunze. (3) On the other hand, the silk reeling firms including Gunze were faced with the pressing need to cope with these new situations. They came to agreements on the fields of each cocoon dealing and tried to make their dealing conditions equal. These co-operative activities aimed to restrain sericulturists' resistances at the time of setting cocoon prices. In spite of these activities, they couldn't finally achieve their expected nurnose sufficiently.
