As part of the ongoing efforts of the department to improve its curriculum and program, student evaluation of courses was instituted in the 1994 academic year. Administered as a questionnaire in a manner designed to ensure student anonymity, the results provided an accurate insight into how the courses offered by the department were viewed by the students taking them as well as a means for evaluating the courses empirically. These results provided a useful source of reference in subsequent departmental discussions and decision-making activities concerning the curriculum. Accordingly, it was agreed that the questionnaire, after being revised and expanded, should be conducted again in the 1995 academic year. This paper describes the 1995 questionnaire, some of its findings and the conclusions drawn from them, problems or areas that require further consideration and revision, and provides suggestions towards that end.
