It is extremely important in the care welfare practice to understand the care recipient on the basis of "the proper understanding of human beings" for the purpose of maintaining the dignity of the care recipient and for acquiring skills of properly dealing with the needs of individuals. As the care welfare practice proceeds, however, care-givers focus more on acquiring techniques to deal with the recipients' physical needs, sparing less time for learning how to balance their level of assistance corresponding with the unique needs of each individual. In this thesis, the organization of the class "Carework Practice Teaching" is shown; students were required to develop "a guidebook for the users". This is for the students to enhance their "understanding of human beings inherent in social welfare". Three different perspectives were explored in the guidebook: "perspective of an observer," "perspective of the recipient," and "perspective of the practitioner who faces recipients' suffering." Retrospectively, the problems that care-givers face, as well as the perspectives of the recipient, were discussed in the process. Also, the students were able to have the opportunities to think more carefully about the meaning of the terms which are frequently used in the practice of care welfare, such as "assistance for independent living" or "utilization of the remaining ability".
