We propose a dual band RFID reader antenna for HF and UHF bands applications. The proposed antenna consists of a multi turned spiral radiator operated at HF band and a corner truncated patch radiator covering UHF band. The spiral radiator is placed between the patch radiator and the ground plane to minimize the size. The patch radiator and the ground plane have rectangular slots in the middle to reduce the mutual effect. The designed antenna satisfies the 10dB return loss bandwidth over the required frequency band and has good radiation characteristics.
