This paper aims to discuss the reason why the engineering ethics was introduced into the curriculum for the students of engineering in college. Main opinion for this explains that rapid development of technology in recent days requires moral consciousness to engineers. Though such opinion cannot be denied, more fundamental reason must be the socio-economical changes in recent Japan. The word "class stratification" or kaikyu syakai most suitably denotes contemporary Japan. We have two classes which are clearly divided with economic criteria: the rich or capitalist class and the poor or working class. The capitalism in Japan rushes at new facet and destroys the previous and steady condition of our society. Now most of engineers belong to the latter class and their economic condition become worse recently. This change enforces them to be more ethic-conscious at their working. One of such enforcement appears as new and rapid spreading of engineering ethics in the flied of industry and in the college of technology where students are regarded as the to-be engineers. To corroborate this theory, education of engineering ethics in Vietnam will be shown. We understand that the country which has introduced the capitalism very rapidly needs the engineering ethics in higher education.
