In this paper, some of the technical issues for printed thin-film devices, especially for printed conductive electrodes, are addressed. Surface roughness of the printed electrode can significantly degrades leakage current and field effect mobility of TFT when the electrode is used as a gate electrode. Edge waviness caused by printing process can also significantly affect TFT performances and stability when the electrode is used as source/drain electrodes. In addition to these technical issues of the printed electrodes, their potential applications in passive circuit elements and sensors are also addressed.
