We review the application of random matrix theory to QCD. After explaining why random matrix theory is successful to the description of the QCD vacuum, we discuss a possible extension of the model involving the Anderson localization transition. We study in an extended model how the transition occurs and the level statistics deviates from the universal limit. This analysis makes it clear what should be clarified to describe the QCD vacuum as a disordered system.
