On-body area UWB channel modeling for chest-to-waist link (ワイドバンドシステム)

On-body area ultra wideband (UWB) communication is of high importance for the promising new bio-medical or entertainment application. However, there are currently few measurements or models describing on-body area propagation channel with an emphasis on body movement. Using the frequency-dependent finite difference time domain ((FD)^2TD) method and a high-precision human body model, we simulate various body postures for modeling of the on-body channel. Based on the (FD)^2TD numerical results, we implement a complete propagation model for chest-to-waist link in Matlab. Good match is obtained between the (FD)^2TD-derived data and the statistically implemented model in terms of key communication metrics. In addition, for chest-to-right-waist transmission link, experiment is carried on to verify the (FD)^2TD-derived result and the model parameters agree well between the two approaches.
