• In 2003, the author/artist undertook to design and build a private, traditional Japanese garden in the United States. This essay outlines that process and references the literary sources which contributed to the structure, symbolism and aesthetics incorporated into the Musubi Teien [結び庭園], the Garden of Musubi.
