The Regional Informatisation is a concept which was created in early 1980s during the so-called "new media boom." This idea came into being as a policy, so its original meaning was mainly "policies" to informatise communities. But there is another concept of Regional Informatisation as activities by local inhabitants or non-profits which are either involved or has nothing to do with the policy-making processes. In other words, the concept of Regional Informatisation consists of both policies and civil activities. The social significance of "Regional Informatisation" as well as nationalregional policies concerning this field have changed over years as the information technology makes incessant progresses and permeates into the society. The "Regional Informatisation" today cannot be the same as the one in 1980s since mobile phones are quite popular and that broadband Internet connection is available at most parts of the country. It is therefore essential to consider what this concept stands for in the current context and to reflect it at the policy-making process.
