The ball bearing in the high temperature atmosphere is one of the key technologies in the advanced material gas turbine project. The current level of the ball bearing is 200℃ and 2.5 million DN. To evaluate both the lubricating properties of a high-temperature-resistant lubricant and the performance of a new heat-resistant bearing ring material for use at high temperature and speeds, 100-mm-bore hybrid ceramic ball bearings were tested. The bearings ran successfully at the high temperature of 300℃ and high speed of 3.5 million DN. No damage was observed on the raceways of the bearings after the tests. The results of the tests confirm that the bearings function normally with tripentaerythritol ester oil in high temperatures that exceed the limiting temperature of conventional ester-based gas turbine engine oil, and that the sintered powder carburizing steel is well suited to bearing applications in which present levels of temperature and speed are exceeded.
